We're these people
A little ashamed at admitting it. We almost bought frozen chicken for $0.69 a pound a few weeks ago and then thought about those chicken videos (don’t watch that if you want to keep eating cheap chicken) and didn’t. It’s tough. Mom asked us what we would do if we had all the money in the world, how would our lives be different (aside from changing our jobs or buying a house). We said we’d be more conscious of what we eat and use. It’s tough to be stuck this cycle, using all these single-use plastics and eating (formerly) sad animals when we know we shouldn’t be. We're not as bad as these people, honestly (maybe we are).

The Fancy Food Show is next weekend in NYC
If you like candy, nuts, olive oil, meat, and cheese you should be here next week, because you’ll be so deep in ‘em you’ll need to wear your Hunters. The secret is going to the country-specific tourism/food board booths; most of the time those have prepared food. Last year, our fav was Peru - they made a pretty amazing fish dish (I think we had 2 each). Tickets used to be $35; they’re now $95 - that price point is borderline for the value, but if you’re really into food and you’ve never been, it’s a must-see(taste), even at that price.

America is not to be trusted
Have you all subscribed to the Congressional Dish podcast yet? It should be required listening for anyone that cares about what America is doing, domestically and internationally. We’re not going to go full AnCap on you and say some shit like Taxation Is Theft (although we are sure there’s a better way with some opt-ins coming when technology makes it easier) but can we all consider not paying our taxes in protest of policies that take our money and use it for covert military operations with the end goal of defense contractors and bankers getting rich? Let’s do it in 2020. We need a slogan. Send us your ideas!

This Tycho Brahe guy was pretty interesting
He was an heir to some Danish loyalty, took the money and did science, had a personal dwarf, had a fake nose, might have been murdered by either his partner, now far more famous astronomer Johannes Kepler (who took his data and developed the three laws of planetary motion), or the King of Denmark (because he might have been shagging the queen on the sly, possibly inspiring the Shakespearean Hamlet). Or he died from holding his pee for too long at a dinner…

Just a taste of off-the-grid living
We’re pretty excited about turning our Land Cruiser into a go anywhere vehicle, or at least getting something to make it a bit more suitable for bugging out. Just got quoted $1600 to buy, not install, a not-even-double-the-amount gas tank for it that’s not even legal in CA. Guess that’s out for now. The blogs all say that there’s a move toward the more compact, non-camper style of off-roading vehicle. Surely, that’s something more accessible for the general population. We haven’t made an overnight trip somewhere out on the trails, but it’s on the list.
